AIPAC Policy Conference 2016
March 20 - 22, 2016
Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington, D.C.
Our Brother Alephs and Sister B’nai B’rith Girls,
BBYO’s commitment to Israel is both rooted in our history and ingrained deeply in our values. The Aleph Zadik Aleph and the B’nai B’rith Girls are prioritizing Israel education, awareness and informed advocacy through our Speak UP For Israel initiative, and by sending more Jewish teens to Israel.
AIPAC, one of our Speak UP partners, is one of the nation’s most influential lobbies. BBYO is proud to be one of AIPAC’s youth partners and we are committed to sending strong leaders that are politically minded, pro-Israel teens to this year’s AIPAC Policy Conference.
During AIPAC Policy Conference, thousands of Jewish adult leaders from around the world committed to the strength and endurance of the State of Israel and the Global Jewish community will gather for this important annual meeting in Washington, D.C.
The conference includes over 100 unique sessions facilitated by the world’s leading political and military experts about Israel’s current challenges and achievements. The Gala Banquet will feature more than half of the House of Representatives and Senate powerfully displaying their continued commitment to Israel – and is one of the largest gatherings of members of Congress, second only to the State of the Union Address. In past years, President Barack Obama, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and many Presidential candidates have made it a priority to make an appearance.
Please submit your applications by Saturday, January 30, 12:00PM EST. Staff will be consulted on all applicants.
AIPAC is subsidizing the student conference fee down to $299 for leaders who have at least 20 Gauge points on AIPAC NGauge (download it in the App Store and earn credit for points today)!
PRO TIP: After you submit your application, go ahead and start earning those points - you'll need to have them if you're accepted (and to go to all future AIPAC events).
Student delegates will be a part of the BBYO Hotel Block for $300 per delegate for three nights (March 19, March 20, and March 21 - please note that AIPAC Policy Conference starts early in the AM on March 20, so delegations arrive on March 19). There will be four students of the same gender per hotel room - unfortuantely, we cannot accomodate roommate requests. Lunch, specified dinners, transportation to D.C. and to the hotel is not covered in the registration fee. Once accepted as a BBYO delegate, we will provide you with more about travel, accommodations and the program.
Because BBYO has limited space, the teens chosen to represent BBYO -- and transitively, the Jewish teen community -- will be held to the highest standards of conduct. You will be expected, furthermore, to bring back the lessons you have learned and participate in BBYO’s new Speak UP initiative Teens4Israel. This program will provide you with skills and knowledge to advocate for Israel and lobby at your local political offices.
If you, your parents or teachers have any questions about the program, please contact Morgan Wittenberg.
