IC Wrap Up

AZA BBG IC 2013 brought together 1,600 Jewish teens from 18 countries to celebrate and strengthen AZA, BBG and the Jewish people.

Here is a recap of AZA BBG IC 2013 via tweets:

@zsable: We are literally making history right now #inspired #AZABBGIC2013 #fromtherootswebuild

At Opening Ceremonies, President Obama welcomed IC attendees to Washington via video message and encouraged the teens to “affirm [their] faith and recommit [themselves] to the enduring values this organization represents.”

@bsam2212: I am so honored to be in the same organization that got a shout out from President Barack Obama. BBYO does amazing things #AZABBGIC2013

@Alyssa_Mishhh: So. Many. Countries. Represented. At. IC. This feels like the Olympics opening ceremonies not BBYO. #AZABBGIC2013

During the BBYO Stand UP Day of Service and Advocacy, teens volunteered at 34 service sites throughout DC. Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, US Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice and Ohio State Treasurer Josh Mandel rallied the teens to stand up for causes about which they care. Service tracks included Israel advocacy training and environmental restoration.

@AmbassadorRice: "Never stop finding ways to serve your community and your country, never stop." #BBYOStandUPIC2013 #AZABBGIC2013

@sheabaybay95: Never in my life have I been so inspired. #BBYOStandUPIC2013 #AZABBGIC2013

A spirited and inspired States Speech was given by Grand Aleph Godol, Logan Miller, and International N’siah, Sarah Minion, which outlined their goals for the remainder of their terms and illustrated their vision for how AZA and BBG teens will not only lift the Jewish community, but also change the world.

@Jacklyn__Smith: What comes next.... A chapter we will write all together #inspiring #StateoftheOrder #AZABBGGIC2013

The convention body elected the ten teens who will serve on the 2013-2014 AZA & BBG International Boards and will lead the teen movement over the next programming year.

@eccabo0: These speeches are amazing! I am a proud alum and advisor of such an inspiring organization! #AZABBGElections @BBYOAlumni

@jillx3456: Congrats to the newly elected I board #AZABBGElections #iBoard8969 #ICPressCorps2013

BBYO’s Board of Directors, Friends and Alumni Network Leaders and community stakeholders participated in IC like never before by joining the Executive teen leadership body for dinner, attending the FAN Leadership Retreat featuring keynote speaker Itay Talgam of TED Talk fame and participating in “Teens, Texting and Torah,” a communal conversation regarding how to keep the elusive teen audience connected to Jewish life.

On the final night of convention, teens celebrated friendships and fun with musical guests Hoodie Allen and Timeflies.

@Emkaps16: @hoodieallen was amazing! Now @Timeflies! #AZABBGIC2013 #epic @BBYOInsider

After five days of convention, our teens left DC empowered to lift up the Jewish community and change the world. The 2013 IC experience was not to be missed, so I encourage you to save the date now for the AZA BBG IC 2014 in Dallas, TX on Presidents’ Day Weekend, February 13 - 17, 2014.

@totALI_RAD: I've fallen in love with this movement. I love what it represents and who represents it #AZABBGIC2013

@addyebell: Thank you BBYO for the best weekend ever. #AZABBGIC2013 was perfect. Can't wait for #AZABBGIC2014!
