Witnessing Change

Although the icebreaker activities and the trip to the White House was a very proficient introduction to D.C., the speeches of the former homeless people overpowered the introductory activities in terms of impact on the teens. These speeches were tremendous because they reflected change through people’s eyes. Change is an extremely essential aspect of life and the clear, reflecting tears dripping down the eyes of the young lady next to me depicted a sense of inspiration and change. Inspiration is when one comes in the door with a certain enclosed perspective on a topic and comes out the door with a different, more expandable perspective. The homeless speeches were a perfect example of change and inspiration in young person’s eyes and that’s the purpose of this seminar.
