Shalom from Impact:Chicago! Today is the second full day here and we are beginning to fall into a daily routine. After waking up and eating breakfast in the dorm cafeteria all together, we break off into our respective service sites to go out into the community and make an impact. There are 5 service sites and throughout our time here you will hear more about them in this blog.
Kallah is now well under way as we have started another week of programming. In addition to continuing our "hat'khalot" rotations (introductory rotations with our Jewish educators), we also had our first chugim (elective courses).
The first Sabbath of Kallah 2013 has come and gone, and it was quite memorable. Many of our teens don't get to regularly enjoy "the day of rest", as they are often busy amidst their hectic lives, and so Kallah provides them with a special opportunity to have a powerful experience.
Hi everyone! My name is David Setton, and I’m one of the Teen Coordinators for this year’s IMPACT: Chicago, and I can’t even put into words how excited I am for the participants to arrive, which they should be any minute now.
The last 24 hours have been amazing. There is a lot to fit into a single blog post, but I’ll give it a shot. After dinner yesterday, the rest of the Impact teens and I got into our Lobby Prep groups. Being from California, we had a hectic meeting.
Our third day culminated in Israeli dancing which proved to be one of the favorite activities of the trip thus far. We practiced a myriad of dances and it was so much fun to try and dance to all of them!
Kallah has officially begun! All of the teens arrived safely today, and things are moving right along. We went right into an impactful program about the traits we hope to possess at Kallah, and then had our first meal together! After that, the teens got to meet and bond with their new roommates.
