The DRIVE FOR FIVE has Crossed the Finish Line

Since February 1, GCR's chapters have been competing in "THE DRIVE FOR FIVE", a membership and summer program recruitment initiative designed to maximize membership intake and summer program registration.

The rules and goals were simple:
1)  Hit 500 members in GCR by May 1, 2011 - achieving this goal meant that Justin Pollack and Jennifer Fallick, GCR's Program Directors, would wash the cars of all the members in the region.
2)  The chapter with the highest percentage of membership increase would win a pizza party.
3)  The chapter with the highest percentage of members attending a domestic summer program (CLTC, ILTC, Kallah, and the Impact programs) would win a pizza party.

As of February 1, GCR was home to 410 members, and as of May 1, GCR is proud to be home to 476 members!  While we did not hit our goal of 500, we are very proud of all the hard work the chapters put in!  Additionally, GCR is sending teens on a total of 72 domestic summer program experiences this summer!

Our winners for the pizza parties are:
Percent Membership Increase - Yafah BBG, Boynton Beach/Lake Worth
Summer Program Registration - Kesher BBG, South Broward County

We are so proud of all the hard work our chapters did these past few months!

Welcome to our Two Newest Chapters!

It is with great pleasure that we are happy to announce the beginning of two new chapters in Boca Raton.  Boca Raton AZA and Boca Raton BBG will operate alongside two of our strongest chapters in the region - Halev BBG and L'Chaim AZA.  Boca Raton AZA and BBG will be meeting on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 at the Levis JCC in Boca Raton.  If you know of anyone who might be interested in checking out these chapters, please contact the office at 954-252-1912!

Experience the March of the Living

Check out the 2011 BBYO March of the Living Delegation Blog Chronicling the Experience

Nearly 150 representatives from BBYO took the journey from darkness to light and history to destiny as a part of the 2011 BBYO March of the LIving delegation.  The March is an international, educational program that brings Jewish teens from all over the world to Poland on Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Memorial Day, to march from Auschwitz to Birkenau, the largest concentration camp complex built during World War II, and then to Israel to observe Yom HaZikaron, Israel Memorial Day, and Yom Ha'Atzmaut, Israel Independence Day.

The goal of the March of the Living is for these young people to learn the lessons of the Holocaust and to lead the Jewish people into the future vowing Never Again.

Genocide and Human Rights Summit in DC

On June 26-28, 2011, teens from across North America are invited to Washington, DC, to take part in an extraordinary experience – a Jewish Teen Summit on Human Rights and Genocide.

For three days, a diverse group of Jewish teens will come together in the nation’s capitol to learn about Genocide and how they can stand up and speak out against these worldwide atrocities.  They will hear from activists, meet with their Members of Congress, and most importantly, they will walk away from this PANIM Institute summit armed with increased knowledge about human rights and genocide, enhanced skills as a community leader, and a greater understanding of their own civic responsibility.
