Stand Up!

Evergreen Region’s Stand Up! cause this year is for Education and Literacy.  Stand Up! is BBYO’s International initiative to raise awareness and funds for an organization.  All of the chapters in Evergreen Region are already busy formulating fundraising plans, advocacy programs, and community service projects.  Look forward to upcoming featured chapter Stand Up! programs.

Both Portland and Seattle BBYO Friends and Alumni Networks Launch 180@$180 Campaigns!

180at180In an effort sustain BBYO in the Northwest,Seattle and Portland FAN networks are working to attract 180 donors to give at the $180+ level in each city.  BBYO has a strong history in the Northwest and the future of BBYO depends on increased community support.  Do your part and make an online donation in Seattle or Portland.

Chapter Programming

BBG chapters are busy recruiting and welcoming new members by hosting “kidnaps.”  Both Achayot and Halom are planning to host these chapter programs where future BBGs can hang out, get to know older members, and participate in sisterhood activities.

An Evening with Former International BBYO Presidents Dan and Elana

Dan SeptimusDaniel Septimus, former Grand Aleph Godol 1997-98, Associate Rabbi at Temple DeHirsch Sinai and Elana Zana, former International N'siah 1999-00, healthcare attorney with Ogden, Murphy, and Wallace joined Monday night BBYO meetings on November 1st at the SJCC to share their experiences. This event was open to all Seattle area Jewish teens. Dan and Elana's engaging and informative talk was definitely a highlight for Seattle teens and will be an event to be remembered.

An Introduction to Musical Theater:  A Special workshop for teens

Seattle Jewish Community Center and 5th Avenue Theater present:  An Introduction to Musical Theater:  A Special workshop for teens.  Tuesday November 30th, at 7 pm.  This workshop is for teens who want to learn basic singing and acting concepts.  Join us as we create our own “Glee” style performances.  Register at www.sjcc.org.

Jeremy Sherman visit

Jeremy's Portland VisitJeremy Sherman, BBYO’s 2010-2011 Grand Aleph Godol visited Portland chapters and community leaders in late October.  He had the opportunity to sit down with Marc Blattner, also a past Grand Alpeh Godol and Michelle Caplan past International N’siah.  Jeremy gave an update on International initiatives and EGR’s current Judaic, Social Action, and Community Service programming.

College Night

Portland BBYO teamed up with the University of Oregon Hillel at the Mittleman JCC Tuesday, November 2nd for a College Night.  Parents and teens had the opportunity to learn about Jewish student life on campus, several Jewish organizations, and ask questions to current students about their studies.  Around 40 teens and parents attended the event.

BlazersTeen Connection and BBYO are hosting a night at the Blazer’s Game for any Jewish 6th-12th grader Tuesday evening, December 7th.  This annual event is always fun and exciting.  Sign up now on www.blinked.org.

Eugene BBYO Meetings

Eugene BBYO is in full swing with chapter meetings every Sunday evening, from 7 to 8 pm, at the University of Oregon Hillel.  Planning is already underway for a fun-filled semester.  Any Jewish 9th-12th grader is welcome to check out what's going on at meetings.  Questions?  Contact Chelsea Landman (541) 514-3006.

Michaela Gilmer named International PR Chair

The 86th and 66th Grand and International Boards announced the 2010-2011 International Chair positions.  Eugene's very own Michaela Gilmer was chosen to work on the PR Team with several other teens from around the United States.  Michaela will also serve as this year's BBG Ruach 2010 Coordinator.

Eugene BBYO helps with Hannukah Fair

Eugene BBYO will be volunteering in the annual Hannukah Fair at Temple Beth Israel, Sunday November 21st.  Each year Temple Beth Israel collects donations of toys and other goods to donate to families in need.

Last year, more than 1,500 teens took part in BBYO Summer Experiences. They developed their leadership skills, served new communities, made friendships that will last for years to come and traveled the world. What program will you  attend this summer?
