Emily Hamburger's BBYO Summer Experience

This summer, Emily Hamburger attended BBYO CLTC. Read on to share her experience.

When people told me that CLTC was going to be the best twelve days of my life, I found it difficult to believe. However, after experiencing it along with 108 other teens, I can say that it was not only the best twelve days of my life, but it was also twelve life-changing days. The experience was simply indescribable. At CLTC I learned a tremendous amount about BBYO as a youth led movement, my Jewish identity, and my role as a leader. Through leadership seminars within mock chapters, I soaked up information about leadership, membership, and the skills needed to run a successful chapter. Also, since I was Gizborit of my chapter, I was able to work closely with the advisors and other teens, as well as learn about the importance of fundraising. Through numerous programs, planning Havdallah, and attending services, I was able to find my Jewish identity and realize the importance of being Jewish. My favorite part of CLTC was leading a program with my mock chapter. It was a great experience that involved working closely with other people and learning the importance of planning and details. The program was a huge success and super fun. Overall, these experiences were incredible and made me a stronger BBG. But, making lifelong friendships was in the end...priceless.

Advisor Spotlight

This month, we'd like to celebrate Jeff Lasser for his unwavering dedication to BBYO Northern Region East: DC Council, and Max Cowan AZA. Jeff has been a valuable member of our advisor team since Max Cowan AZA was established in February 2011. Since that time, the chapter has flourished to make a sizeable mark in the Howard County community. Jeff gives so much of himself to Max Cowan, and the Order. We are fortunate that he has continued being a member of our team!

Danny Kobren, an Aleph from Max Cowan AZA, had this to say about Jeff:

“Jeff has been there for the chapter from the start. He helps each and every one of us with anything we need. He keeps us sane and is really the glue that holds the chapter together, he's involved in every aspect of the chapter and we wouldn't want it any other way” – Danny Kobren
