Director's Note

Hello, BBYO NoVa Council and Happy New Year! I hope you're settling into September and looking forward to the awesome programming coming your way - I know I am!

With the High Holidays upon us, make sure to stay up to date with our latest holiday resources.

BBYO's NoVa Council chapter leaders came together on Sunday, September 1 for leadership training and planning for the fall term of BBYO. These passionate and inspiring teens will be leading our chapters this term to recruit new members, impact their community and create meaningful, Jewish programming for Northern Virginia teens. Also in attendance was Mika Stein, the Grand Aleph Godol, who brainstormed with the teens on expanding BBYO in Northern Virginia.

On September 15, BBYO NoVA Council kicked off the year with a fun-filled afternoon at Mason District Park. We were excited to see returning friends as well as new ones come out to start the year off right!

All of our local chapters are kicking off the year this month with fantastic programs in Fairfax and Loudoun Counties. Visit b-linked for all the details about events happening near you this month and throughout the year!

Please send updated medical forms for your teen.
Each year, BBYO needs to collect new medical forms for all of its members. You can download the form by clicking here. Once completed, please scan and send back to nova@bbyo.org.

Advisor Spotlight

This month, we'd like to celebrate Stacey August for her unwavering dedication to BBYO NoVA Council and Lahat BBG as she enters her third year of advising. Stacey grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina as a member of BBYO Eastern Region: North Carolina Council. Upon graduating from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, Stacey relocated to Northern Virginia to join the Math Department at Oakton High School. Immediately upon arriving, she contacted the BBYO NoVA office to inquire about becoming a chapter advisor. In addition to her regular classes, Stacey also tutors students and works with the Math Honor Society program. During the summer, Stacey continues her work with teenagers at Camp Blue Star in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Aside from working with teens, Stacey enjoys karaoke, kickball and this past year she participated in the Rock 'n' Roll USA Half Marathon. BBYO NoVA Council is thankful to have Stacey as part of our team!
