Director's Note

Hello BBYO Northern Region East: Northern Virginia Council! This has been an exciting and busy month - from Or Chadash BBG's SPA Night to NoVA AZA's Israel Night, we've engaged over 150 teens and families in our community!

Did you know that Hanukkah falls on Thanksgiving this year? As "Thanksgivukkah" approaches, I want to take this time to thank you all for your commitment and dedication to BBYO and wish you a very Happy Hanukkah.

We encourage you to use our Hanukkah resource to make it a BBYO Hanukkah!

Be sure to log into B-linked and make sure that your family's contact information is updated. This allows us to provide you with important communications regarding upcoming events and opportunities.

Advisor Spotlight

This month, we'd like to celebrate Michelle Brener for her dedication to BBYO NoVA Council. Michelle is in her first year as a chapter advisor for Or Chadash BBG, and her influence can already be seen as the chapter continues to grow and thrive. Upon joining the NoVA advisor team, Michelle immediately started going above and beyond by volunteering to staff larger council events and conventions. Michelle grew up in BBYO NoVA Council and is a lifetime member of Masada BBG. She attended the University of Arizona and currently works at Congregation Adat Reyim. We're looking forward to all that Michelle will bring to NoVA Council.

BBYO Delegation at AIPAC's Schusterman Advocacy Institute High School Summit

On November 3-5, 88 BBYO teens from 26 regions and councils joined over 300 teens in Washington, DC at the Schusterman Advocacy Institute High School Summit hosted by AIPAC. At the Summit, teens learned how to strengthen the US-Israel relationship through the American political process, discuss issues facing Israel, become stronger Israel advocates and further develop their relationship with the Jewish homeland.

Seven teens from BBYO NoVA Council were part of the delegation and returned home with new skills to create Israel programming in our community.

"At AIPAC High School Summit, I learned that I am never too young to make a difference in our global world," said Robin Marx of Haganah BBG. "We were educated about how crucial the American-Israeli alliance is and even had the chance to advocate for what we believe in on Capitol Hill."
