NSR AZA Stands Up for Long Island Teenagerssneakers

A few Sundays ago the Alephs (boys) of NSR gathered together at the Sid Jacobson JCC for an afternoon of sports, community service, and a lot of fun. Once a month the Nassau Suffolk Region hosts an AZAA (BBYO's sports league) event that is open to the entire region. This past weekend, the boys chose to organize a European Handball tournament with a little spin to it. Normally the fee of an AZAA event is five dollars, but this time a used pair of shoes, to be donated to a local charity, could be used as an alternative entrance fee.

“It is important to know that even those who could not afford sneakers could still have the same opportunities that we are fortunate enough to have.” –Adam Sidrane, Samson AZA

With over 100 Alephs in attendance, and more than half of them bringing shoes to donate, NSR AZA made a huge impact on the lives of many teenagers.

BBYO Teens Lead Campaign to End Bullying

Three Major International Jewish Youth Movements Join Forces to End Bullying and Support for LGBTQ Teens

Jewish teenagers from the major International Jewish Youth Movements are taking on bullying and standing up for their lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer peers. In addition to publicly committing to end bullying and creating an inclusive environment in their own movements, the Coalition of Jewish Teen Leaders, (the presidents of the International Jewish Youth Movements) has set a goal of getting 18,000 Jews to sign Keshet’s “Jewish Community Pledge to Save Lives”. This goal has been echoed by the executive leadership of the movements and their staff.

NSR FAN 180@180

Long Island’s Friends & Alumni Network is looking for BBYO parents, grandparents, friends and alumni-everyone who believes in providing meaningful Jewish and leadershipexperiences to teens on Long Island to join our 180@180 FAN campaign.

BBYO is working hard to secure a vibrant Jewish future by reversing the trend of post b’nai mitzvah disaffiliation among Jewish teens. By participating in BBYO’s chapter, communitywide and immersive experiences, teens foster a love of and commitment to Jewish life while creating friendships that last a lifetime.
Friends and alumni like you understand BBYO’s effectiveness better than anyone. Long Island’s Friends & Alumni Network needs you to join us in securing the resources necessary to help BBYO flourish in our community. The 180@$180 Campaign will help ensure that NSR teens always have BBYO programs to enrich their Jewish lives.

Every dollar raised will stay in NSR to directly impact the teens on Long Island.
