BBYO in the Community

If you have been out and about in the community recently, chances are you have seen some of Omaha's finest BBYO teens.
On Sunday, Oct. 5, several teens teamed up with B'nai B'rith volunteers to cover the four sukkahs put up around the Jewish Federation of Omaha Campus. The sun was shining as teens made multiple trips hauling tree branches to each sukkah and then covered the sukkah roofs with the branches. All volunteers who helped with the sukkah building enjoyed a much deserved pizza lunch in the JCC canteen after all of their hard work.
BBYO made its presence known by having 26 representatives at the Community Event on Tuesday, Oct. 7. We attended a Council dinner prior to the Community Event. The teens were eager to hear from Jerry Greenfield, co-founder of Ben & Jerrys Homemade Inc., but the ice cream handout wasn't a bad incentive either.
On another sweet note, BBYO teens attended the 4th Annual Great Omaha Chocolate Festival, hosted by the National Council of Jewish Women on Sunday, Oct. 12. At the end of the Festival, the teens helped vendors load up their banners, chocolate goodies, and other heavy materials to take home. In return, many of the vendors offered the teen volunteers as much chocolate as they could eat!
