BBYO teen leaders re-commit to gender inclusivity

Close to 100 Jewish teen leaders of BBYO, the pluralistic Jewish youth movement, recently gathered for an annual conference where they worked together to set the BBYO Movement's priorities for the coming year. One motion that came out of the meeting was to re-commit to gender inclusivity.

The local chapters of BBYO, the largest Jewish youth organization in the world, have opened fall recruiting for new members. Jewish high school students interested in meeting other Jewish teens or gaining leadership experience are encouraged to join. San Antonio BBYO has two chapters: Erich Weiss (boys) and Sababa (girls).

Isadore Shapiro AZA Holds Bake Sale

On Sunday, Aug. 9, BBYO Lonestar Region #73 chapter Isadore Shapiro AZA #1329 had its first bake sale of the term to earn money for the upcoming year. The bake sale was held at Belden's on North Braeswood Boulevard and New York Bagel Shop on Hillcroft Street. It began at 8:30 a.m. and ended six hours later.

Summer in BBYO is always accompanied by life changing experiences and great trips for members all over the world. Teens in South Jersey Region are no exception. With so many great summer program options, such as Chapter Leadership Training Conference (CLTC), Impact, and Kallah, members of SJR spent their summer learning and growing as Jewish leaders. Every member who went on one of these summer experiences had an unforgettable time, made lifelong friends, and learned invaluable lessons.
