J-Serve Helps Hundreds of Teens Help Others

See this story in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Here’s a chance for teens to dig in and help others.

On Sunday, more than 500 metro Jewish teens, from grades 6 through 12, will participate in J-Serve, an international day of community service.

The youth will join others in communities around the world participating in this program. Teens see up close how their actions have a direct impact on a community’s future. What are the benefits, for instance, in a program such as MedShare, which ships surplus medical equipment and supplies to facilities in developing nations?

In metro Atlanta the youth will volunteers at 15 community nonprofits and advocacy program including Amy’s Holiday Party, Project Open Hand, Refugee Resettlement & Immigration Services of Atlanta and Keep North Fulton Beautiful.

Teens or parents interested in participating in a J Serve project can find additional information at or by contacting Amy Helman-Darley, MJCCA’s teen community outreach associate, at or 678-812-3978.
