J-serving their Communities

Read this story on JWeekly.com

On April 14, more than 100 teens from across the Bay Area participated in J-Serve, the international day of Jewish youth community service. Projects ranged from working on an instructional garden to brightening the day for a group of seniors to collecting items for Israeli soldiers. Emma Pines-Schwartz and others (above) work to remove evasive plants near the Sausal Creek watershed in Oakland. Other projects are scheduled throughout April, with an estimated 10,000 Jewish teens worldwide participating in J-Serve events. J-Serve, now in its ninth year, is a collaboration of 11 Jewish organizations.
