| Congratulations to BBYO’s “Future 50” Teens Each year, in conjunction with the United Jewish Communities’ General Assembly, the Forward publishes its “Forward 50” issue, which features 50 people considered to be "the most influential members of the American Jewish community." Playing off of the “Forward 50,” BBYO ran a full-page, color ad, entitled “The Future 50,” in the GA-edition of the Forward. For at least two millennia, we have learned to conduct ourselves in accordance with our calendar. With the exception of two secular holidays observed in the United States, July 4th and Thanksgiving, most of us mark the seasons by the Jewish holidays. Spring brings us Purim and then Passover. Summer begins with Shavuot and Autumn brings us the new year and the Succot harvest period. Winter has generally been, except for those who live in the Southern Hemisphere, cold and dark and punctuated by a festival of lights. For many of us, 2008 has provided another form of winter, with stock markets falling and business prospects unsettled.
