Northern Region East
Northern Region East: NoVA Council
BBYO NoVA Council is comprised of chapters throughout Fairfax and Loudoun Counties. By becoming a member of NoVA Council and one of our 6 chapters, teens are afforded the opportunity to experience local programming in their communities, regional programming at our five annual conventions, and international programming at large scale conferences and immersive BBYO Summer Experiences. NoVA Council teens develop leadership skills, participate in local and regional community service projects, take part in athletic and social programming, and are given a safe space to be themselves while connecting with other Jewish teens.
Through youth-lead and staff-supported programs, BBYO NoVA Council gives our members opportunities to positively affect their communities, the world, and themselves. We constantly strive to provide more Jewish teens with more meaningful Jewish experiences each and every day, so that they may become the future Jewish leaders in their communities and in the Jewish world at large.
What is BBYO?
With 90 years of experience, BBYO is the largest pluralistic youth movement and most effective provider of identity-building and leadership development programs for Jewish teens. Headquartered in Washington, DC, BBYO encompasses over 35 regions across North America, as well as Central and South America, Europe, Israel, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand and employs more than 130 professional staff members and over 700 volunteer advisors. Among BBYO’s more than 400,000 alumni are many of the most prominent figures in Jewish communal life, as well as people of note in the business, political, academic and cultural worlds.
AZA and BBG, BBYO’s chapter membership structure, offer a time-tested model for leadership development. Teens are given real responsibilities and develop leadership skills that relate to their everyday lives. By practicing public speaking, program planning, community organizing and managing people, BBYO teens build skills that not only make them more confident and capable of navigating the challenging teen years, but also prepare them to make positive contributions to the world around them as adults. Also, pre-high school students can now become part of BBYO Connect, our program for sixth, seventh and eighth graders who want to enjoy social, recreational, athletic, cultural and Judaic activities with new friends.
