Happy Passover! Let a Teen Lead the Passover Seder

After a year of traveling the country and the world as BBYO’s International Teen Presidents, we are so excited to go home and spend Passover with our families! During our travels, we witnessed how BBYO serves as a “home away from home” for tens thousands of teens.  At BBYO programs, we make great friends and connect with Judaism on our terms.

Just as BBYO has been a home for so many teens, we’d like to bring a meaningful BBYO experience into your home this Passover.  Check out BBYO’s Passover Discussion Guide, which focuses on an important Passover tradition and the how it relates to teens today.  Join 30,000 families across the country in trying out this additional set of four questions at your Seder table.  Let a teen at your Seder guide your family in gaining a better understanding of our traditions.

On behalf of BBYO teens everywhere, chag pesach sameach (Happy Passover) to you and your family.

Teens Raise $25,000 for Global BBYO

(BBYO's International Delegation at IC 2011)

Committed to supporting Jewish youth all over the world, BBYO had one of its most successful global representations at its International Convention this year with Jewish teens from eight countries attending from as far as Argentina, Serbia, Ireland, England, Bulgaria, and Israel. This highlight comes after an exciting school-year filled with initiatives meant to engage BBYO teens to recognize the power they have to stand united as one movement of Jewish youth.

Earlier this year, BBYO partnered with the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) on an overseas service initiative for BBYO alumni, the JDC-BBYO Global Service Fellowship. The fellowship sent four BBYO alumni to join the JDC’s Jewish Service Corps for one year to helpTurkey; Israel; Argentina; and Serbia with their most pressing welfare, Jewish renewal and humanitarian needs while developing teen programming and connections to Jewish life through BBYO’s innovative leadership programming and international network.

In addition to this partnership, BBYO’s teen leadership established a Global Ambassadors Network with 19 North American teens working directly with affiliates on projects such as AZA and BBG Shabbats and expanding J-Serve, currently the National Day of Jewish Youth Service. Through these combined efforts, BBYO regions raised more than $25,000 through the International Service Fund (ISF) to help bring  the international delegation to IC 2011.

Stay tuned for more updates on BBYO’s globalization initiative including a live blog complete with updates with Overseas delegations coming soon!
