Chapter Meetings, Grades 9-12
BBYO’s renowned leadership model of experiential democracy, with teens leading other teens and creating their own BBYO programs under the guidance of adult volunteers and staff, is carried out through AZA chapters (for young men) and BBG chapters (for young women).
Local chapters meet every other Tuesday (September through May, excluding holidays and school breaks) from 8pm to 9pm at the JCC of Mid-Westchester, 999 Wilmot Road Scarsdale, NY 10583. Chapter meetings will take place on Sept. 11, Oct. 16, Oct. 30, Nov. 20, Dec. 4, and Dec. 18.
Sept. 9 / Day of Service and Remembrance , Grades 6-12
Join over a hundred teens from all around Westchester will come together for a day of service and remembrance in honor of of the victims of Sept. 11. There will be a memorial ceremony and then you will work on various service projects that will give back to the local Westchester community. Projects include playing music with RockMitzvah for residents from a nursing home, a car wash that will raise money for the Gift of Life Foundation, sorting clothes from a collection drive for Kids Kloset of WJCS, baking cookies for local fire and polices forces, playing sports with children with special needs, and making blankets for children at a children's hospital. Oct 6 / Fall Kickoff Dance
Jump-start the new program year with good music and great friends. Transportation will be provided to and from the dance.
Oct 26 / AZA/BBG Shabbat
Celebrate a meaningful teen-led Shabbat with BBYO members from across the county. In Westchester, we will be joining with the teens from Westchester Reform Synagogue to celebrate Shabbat as a Westchester teen community.
Nov. 6 / Election Day of Service
Even though we cannot vote yet, it does not mean that we cannot make an impact in the world around us. Join us for a day of service on Election Day, 2012.
Nov. 30-Dec. 2 / Winter Convention
Get ready for an exciting weekend with the Long Island Region.
Dec. 12 / Interfaith Holiday Party
Join teens from Temple Israel Center and from Jewish, Islam, and Christian faiths as we explore the different holidays of varying faiths.
