ILTC Day 2 - Bringing in the Sabbath
Posted on 06/28/2013 @ 09:30 PM
The first full day of ILTC 2013 is almost over, and so far it has been a great success! The teens spent the earlier portion of the day being introduced to camp activities and choosing electives, and the second portion of the day bringing in the Sabbath.
After an early morning Shacharit (prayer), the teenagers ate some breakfast, and dived right into camp activites. In one series of rotations, the teens chose between a variety of activities such as "chugim" (elective courses covering topics like media and a capella), "limmudim" (lessons dealing with topcis like Israel and Judaism), and leadership committees (for fields like video making and program creating).
During the next group of rotations, the teens got to let out their energy. Their stops included "rikkud" (dancing), "shira" (singing), a program with our teen coordinators, and an Israel program led by our specialist who flew in all the way from Israel to staff ILTC.
After some "chofesh" (free time), the teens participated in Shabbat Shira (singing and services for the Sabbath). Later tonight they will enjoy a bonding program, before receiving some snacks and going to bed.
We will not be posting blogs, nor pictures during Shabbat, but we will be updating you again via this blog on Saturday night. Additionally, there are already pictures posted on Facebook, and more will be added every day of camp except Saturdays.
