My Amazing Second Day at Impact: Chicago

Hi my name is Lydia Safir and I'm from Charlotte, NC. It's only the 2nd full day of impact and we're already having so much fun!
My service site is CJE SeniorLife which is an assisted living community near Chicago. Our jobs at this service sites are to have friendly visits with the residents, assist with planned activities, and to plan a talent show for the last day we're here. It's already an eye opening experience in only the first days there and can't wait for more service site days.
After our service sites we went back to the Hillel and had a discussion about the differences between what people see on the outside and what you're really like on the inside. We related this to Jewish texts and to what it means in Judaism. We then made masks with one side containing words describing what other people see as a first impression and the other side with words describing what you want people to see on the inside.
Later we had a speaker, Ben Kozberg, who came to talk to us about fundraising, how BBYO is funded, and about FAN . FAN stands for Friends and Alumni Network and is where BBYO gets most of its funding. We talked about how to talk about BBYO to alumni, parents, and community organizations so that they would be willing to donate and support BBYO. We are all excited for sightseeing and the other fun things to come!
