Impact: DC Jam 1
We are all very excited to spend our first Shabbat together! This morning, the teens returned to their service site for the second time and then came back together for Beit Midrash, where they discussed, "To Whom are we Obligated to Serve?"
Following Beit Midrash, our Shabbat Committees met to put the final touches on our Shabbat planning.
Shabbat Shalom!

Kicking Off IMPACT: DC

Impact: DC Jam 1
All of the students arrived safely and energized - regardless of how far and long they traveled. Our teen coordinators and Madrachim greeted the teens with some ice breaker games and tours of the GW Campus.
After a welcome program, all of the students moved into their rooms. For many, it was their first experience unpacking in a college dorm. After a little down time, Rabbi Brent Spodek, our Director of Education led our first Beit Midrash session called “What is Social Justice?” Students tackled what the definition of social justice is and started to ask questions as to what and who they should “serve.” Everyone actively participated and it was great to see the group starting to bond.
After Beit Midrash, we had a great first dinner: Schwarma and Falafel!
We closed the evening with a fun program lead by our teen coordinators. It produced lots of laughter and set the tone for a wonderful two weeks.
We’re ready for day 2!

MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Are you making an IMPACT?
Posted on 03/08/2011 @ 03:14 PM
As teens, we are passionate, we are idealistic. We have compassion, empathy, and a need to make a difference, an impact in the world. However, we are often left feeling at a loss; as if our thoughts, dreams, and ambitions can not be translated into concrete purposes, visible solutions, tangible outcomes. Searching through our spirits and emotions, grabbing at and extracting unique ambition and desire we find our voice. Upon divulging our most personal passions, the only thing we are left without is a vessel to speak through, a way of communicating our goals and ideals with others to make that impact we so desperately desire.
IMPACT: DC is our answer.
Keep checking back to this blog to find out how IMPACT: DC will help YOU not only realize your dreams, but also to transport them from fantasy to reality.
