First Day of IMPACT: Milwaukee

Today was an awesome first day for IMPACT: Milwaukee.
We headed out on a charter bus to Lake Michigan and grabbed some lunch at a small snack shack. After messing around on the beach and eating our lunch we took a tour of Milwaukee and learned about its history and people.
We first stopped at a kosher meat market, which was really cool and it was very interesting to talk to the owner and his wife. We then stopped by a farmer’s market and talked to one of the volunteers about the food desert in Wisconsin.
We then went to the Jewish Museum of Milwaukee where we got to learn about Milwaukee’s Jewish community.
After learning about Milwaukee’s Jewish identity we had discussion about the problems that Milwaukee is facing today and how those same problems are affecting our hometowns. Written by Ari Korin from Indianapolis, IN
