Become A BBYO Advisor
BBYO advisors are volunteers committed to helping BBYO members, and their chapters, reach their full potential. BBYO empowers advisors to work in partnership with professional staff to supervise and guide AZA and BBG chapters. Advisors serve as positive Jewish role models by sharing observations with the youth, exploring challenges and seeking solutions with (not for) the teens, and encouraging BBYO members to strive for excellence. Advisors are there to support and advise, while it is the teens who lead the chapters and are ultimately responsible for chapter programming with their peers. Under the guidance of advisor leadership, BBYO teens have the opportunity to grow into dynamic, engaged young Jewish leaders.

Mazel Tov to the 2013 David Bittker Advisor of the Year Award Recipients!
Mazel Tov to Justin Silver, Reinsbord AZA advisor for Lonestar Region and Marla Schlessel, Beresheit BBG advisor for the Ohio Northern Region who were recently awarded the International BBYO David Bittker AZA & BBG Advisor of the Year awards, for their work with their AZA and BBG chapters. Marla and Justin have each played an integral role in furthering BBYO’s mission of providing more Jewish teens with more meaningful Jewish experiences.
The David Bittker Advisor of the Year Award is presented each year at BBYO’s AZA & BBG International Convention (IC) to an outstanding advisor who embodies the qualities that David L. Bittker portrayed. Bittker long served as a member of BBYO’s lay leadership. As a lay leader for BBYO, Bittker put BBYO first, taking on a variety of roles and responsibilities to meet the needs of the organization, an approach that he took in all of his volunteer endeavors. His desire to selflessly give his time, energy and resources toward strengthening the Jewish community is the very model of leadership BBYO seeks to model for its teens through the volunteer work of BBYO advisors.
