Event Details

Materials: 

  • Paper plates and cups
  • Strawberries
  • Hersheys kisses
  • Chocolate pudding
  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Chocolate covered pretzels
  • Chocolate syrup 
  • Chocolate milk
  • Matzah 
  • Ice cream “drumstick” (aka lamb)
  • Sour candy
  • Orange
  • Candlesticks
  • Cup of water

 

SCRIPT: 

  • First we light the candles
  • Baruch atah Adonai, Eloheinu melech ha-olam, asher kid’shanu b’mitzvotav v’tzivanu l’hadlik ner shel Yom Tov.
  • NOTE: Fill cups with chocolate milk
  • On passover, we drink wine/juice, today we’ll have chocolate milk
  • Baruch atah Adonai, Eloheinu melech ha-olam, borei p’ree ha-gafen u’vorei ha-chalav ha-shokolad.
  • NOTE: give karpas out (strawberries and chocolate sauce)
  • The earth provides us with sweet food, which we are so lucky to eat. 
  • Baruch atah Adonai, Eloheinu melech ha-olam borei p’ree ha-adamah.
  • Yachatz: we have three matzot. We break the first one down the middle and hide it for afikomen. This is the matzah our ancestors ate before us in the land of Egypt. 
  • TEN PLAGUES: 
  • As the Israelites went to flee EGypt, pharoh changed his mind and charged after them. As Israelites reached the sea, it parted for the Israelites, but did not let the Egyptians through. To remember their suffering, we remove ten drops of milk from our cup using our finger and put it on our plate. 
  • Blood

  • Slaying of the first born
  • Four questions: 
  • Sheh b’chol ha-leilot anu ochlin chametz umatzah, ha-laila ha-zeh kulo matzah?
  • On all other nights we eat bread and matzah. Why on this night do we only eat matzah?
  • Sheh b’chol ha-leilot anu ochlin sheh-ar yirakot, ha-laila ha-zeh maror?
  • On all other nights we eat all kinds of vegetables. Why on this night do we eat bitter herbs?
  • Sheh b’chol ha-leilot ein anu matbeelin afilu pa’am echat, ha-laila hazeh shtey fe’amim?
  • On all other nights we do not dip our vegetables even once. Why on this night do we dip them twice?
  • Sheh b’chol ha-leilot anu ochlin beyn yoshveen u’vein misubin, ha-laila ha-zeh kulanu misubin?
  • On all other nights, we eat our meals either sitting up or reclining. Why on this night do we all eat reclining?
  • Bless matzah: Baruch atah Adonai, Eloheinu melech ha-olam, ha-motzi lechem u-shokolad min ha-aretz.
  • Baruch atah Adonai, Eloheinu melech ha-olam, asher kidishanu b’mitzvotav v’tzivanu al achilat matzah.
  • Bless sour candy and pudding: Baruch atah Adonai, Eloheinu melech ha-olam, asher kidishanu b’mitzvotav v’tzivanu al achilat maror.
  • Cups for elijah and miriam
  • We leave an extra cup for elijah, a sign of hope and peace. We offer the milk to show hospitality for whoever to enter our home
  • Water honors miriam, when she sang and danced at the part of the sea of reeds
  • Eliyahu hanavi, Eliyahu hatishbi, Eliyahu hagiladi. Bimheirah b’yameinu, yavo eileinu, im Mashiach ben David.
