About Lonestar Region
BBYO is the leading pluralistic Jewish teen movement aspiring to involve more Jewish teens in more meaningful Jewish experiences. As a year-round, globally-interconnected youth movement experience, BBYO serves as a platform for constant Jewish communal participation and leadership for 6th – 12th graders. For almost 90 years, AZA and BBG chapters in communities around the world have been providing exceptional leadership programs and identity enrichment experiences, shaping the confidence and character of 250,000 alumni who are among the most prominent figures in business, politics, academia, the arts and Jewish communal life.
With an emphasis on empowerment, teen participants own part of their experience. This ensures not only that the experience is absorbed, but also that skills are cultivated in a way that fosters their development as change agents and peer role models. BBYO's latest offering, BBYO Connect, seeks to engage 6th, 7th and 8th graders in experiences in a safe, social environment that bridges the gap between Bar/Bat Mitzvah and AZA and BBG. Independent of B’nai B’rith since 2002, BBYO’s network of Jewish teens, alumni, parents, volunteers and philanthropists now serves as the Jewish community’s most valuable platform for delivering to the post Bar/Bat Mitzvah teen audience fun, meaningful and affordable experiences. With year-round activities in hundreds of local communities and inspiring world-wide travel experiences, BBYO’s broad program menu enables teens to explore areas of leadership, service, civic engagement, Israel education and Jewish values.
Lonestar Region is one of over forty BBYO regions in North America. Lonestar spans three metropolitan areas including Austin, Houston and San Antonio and currently reaches over 1,300 6th - 12th graders annually including over 750 in AZA and BBG with 14 chapters and 400 in BBYO Connect.
Lonestar Region is supported by the generous support of its Friends and Alumni Network (FAN) including friends, parents and alumni throughout the area.
