Community Summit on Israel

On Sunday January 16, 2011, Miami BBYO joined over 1,200 Miami community members in a Community Summit on Israel focusing on the campaign to delegitimize the Jewish State. This event, held at Jungle Island in Miami Beach, was a star studded affair. Teens had the opportunity to hear from Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (via video), and Congressman Steve Chabot of Ohio.  The panel of experts included Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren, Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz, and Canadian Parliamentarian Irwin Cotler, and head of the Jewish Agency for Israel Natan Sharansky.

Teens had the opportunity to participate in workshops discussing the insidious campaign currently underway on many university campuses to undermine the very right of Israel to define itself as a nation state. They learned important facts about the Israeli-Arab conflict and learned how to respond to the many unfounded charges currently leveled at the Jewish State.

BBYO Teens Lead Campaign to End Bullying

Three Major International Jewish Youth Movements Join Forces to End Bullying and Support for LGBTQ Teens

Jewish teenagers from the major International Jewish Youth Movements are taking on bullying and standing up for their lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer peers. In addition to publicly committing to end bullying and creating an inclusive environment in their own movements, the Coalition of Jewish Teen Leaders, (the presidents of the International Jewish Youth Movements) has set a goal of getting 18,000 Jews to sign Keshet’s “Jewish Community Pledge to Save Lives”. This goal has been echoed by the executive leadership of the movements and their staff.
