55 Members of Dixie Council BBYO joined their brothers and sisters from Atlanta Council January 14-17 in Augusta, GA, for their annual Southern Region Convention. This year’s convention was a non-stop mix of healthy competition and AZA/ BBG traditions.
Proving once again that it is not the size of a chapter, but the Ruach (spirit) of its members that matter, Dixie Council swept the Runoffs competition at SRC 2011.
Competing in creative categories including original songs, banner and t-shirt design as well as storytelling, The Daughters of the Covenant, BBG (Augusta, GA), the smallest chapter in the Region, was named the overall BBG winner. The men of David Finn AZA (Savannah, GA) were named overall AZA Runoffs champs having competed in banner making, t-shirt design, storytelling and video directing.
Congratulations to all who participated.

Dixie Celebrates Israel
March 25-17 at Camp Rock Eagle, Eatonton, GA
Spring Convention 2011 will bring Dixie’s four cities together in a Celebration of Israel. From technology to tourism, religion to politics, we will explore our homeland through multiple lenses.
We will also have the honor of hosting members of “Israel at Heart”, a dynamic group of young Israelis representing different communities within the country. The Israelis will meet our members on a personal level and introduce them to their unique ways of life.
And, of course, we couldn’t end our programming year without our Life Ceremony celebrating our seniors and their time in BBYO.
Registration is now open on b-linked. Log on to b-linked.org today!
Savannah's "White Out" Weekend was Red Hot
Nearly 80 teens from across Dixie met in Savannah, GA for their Annual Beau/Sweetheart dance the weekend of December 3 -5, 2010. Meeting during Chanukah gave everyone a chance to celebrate the festival of lights with their BBYO family and participate in the first ever Savannah Chanukah gift exchange.
A special Mazel Tov goes out to Junior Elliot Kooden and Sophomore Hannah Slotin, Savannah’s new beau and sweetheart. We can’t wait to see what they have in store for us next year.

Jewish teenagers from the major International Jewish Youth Movements are taking on bullying and standing up for their lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer peers. In addition to publicly committing to end bullying and creating an inclusive environment in their own movements, the Coalition of Jewish Teen Leaders, (the presidents of the International Jewish Youth Movements) has set a goal of getting 18,000 Jews to sign Keshet’s “Jewish Community Pledge to Save Lives”. This goal has been echoed by the executive leadership of the movements and their staff.
