Mensch Madness, hosted by NRE: DC AZA and Hillel at the University of Maryland on the afternoon of Sunday, March 22nd, provided over 50 Alephs with intimate educational experiences with mensches from across the spectrum of community leadership. Attendees chose from 5 leadership tracks, including an interactive workshop with a Maryland state legislator and a tour of UMD’s student tech incubator, all of which provided valuable lessons on how to be a positive change-maker in one’s community. Each year, BBYO, the world's leading pluralistic youth movement, sends its two democratically elected teen leaders to meet with their peers in Jewish communities around the world. For four weeks, starting on December 15, Amanda Freedman (Toronto, ON) and Sam Perlen (Nashville, TN) traveled to nine countries across Europe and the Middle East.
