Glen Ridge High School freshmen Jessica Muney and Isabella Rossi, in consultation with Judi Youngman, senior executive regional director of the BBYO Greater Jersey Hudson River Region, will open a local coed chapter of the teen-led organization. An informational meeting for Jewish teens in grades nine to 12 and their parents will be held on Thursday, Oct. 8, at the home of Roz and Jessica Muney, 14 Adams Place in Glen Ridge.
BBYO GJHRR is the local branch of BBYO International, a pluralistic Jewish youth movement. For more than 90 years, BBYO's leadership programs, the Aleph to open local BBYO chapter Zadik Aleph high school fraternity and the B'nai B'rith Girls high school sorority have been providing leadership programs and identity-enrichment experiences.
Teens who join BBYO lead their chapter meetings, run educational programming, plan fundraisers and create the events that will become part of their weekly calendar. Every six to eight weeks, the BBYO holds weekend events called regional conventions, where teen members have the opportunity to meet Jewish teens in other local BBYO chapters.
