Washington, DC – Discovery Communications selected BBYO to participate in Creating Change 2014. BBYO, the leading pluralistic Jewish teen movement with 100 staff members and more than 600 volunteers, used the partnership with Discovery to produce a talent recruitment video, “Find Yourself Here.”

“Each year, Discovery selects nonprofits to participate in an annual pro bono creative initiative, utilizing the power of our employee workforce to fulfill marketing, design, communications, and operational work on behalf of local and national nonprofit organizations during a 12-hour marathon event,” said Adria Alpert Romm, Chief Human Resources and Global Diversity Officer for Discovery Communications. “Discovery is proud of our work with BBYO through this initiative to create recruitment materials and a retention strategy to help them secure strong talent to further their mission.”

The video outreach is designed with potential talent in mind, introducing BBYO as a career opportunity that supports the interest in doing “meaningful work.” The focus on wider recruitment comes at a time of growth for BBYO. Teen involvement is on the rise, year over year – with a 4% increase in membership and 8% increase in participation in programs like leadership training camps, conventions and international travel experiences.

New hires at BBYO enter into a year-long onboarding and training program with structured opportunities to develop key skill sets and build internal and external relationships. Continued leadership skill development is offered for new and experienced staff as well as management training. Additionally, in an effort to build career paths for all employees, BBYO has joined Talent Alliance, in partnership Hillel and Moishe House. Talent Alliance was formed to advance the recruitment, training and retention of top talent in each member organization and within the Jewish sector more broadly.

Today’s BBYO professionals serve as leaders, organizers and entrepreneurs in their respective communities.

“Hiring the right people for the work we do is mission critical. Our goal is to impact the lives of young people at a critical moment in their lives. To do that we must hire, develop and train the most talented professionals possible,” said Matthew Grossman, BBYO’s Chief Executive Officer.
