BBYO Michigan Region has hired Rachel Grey Ellis as it new senior regional director. Ellis grew up in Farmington Hills and was a proud member of Shira BBG #580 during high school.
"My time in BBYO was instrumental in laying the foundation for over two decades of service, leadership and philanthropic opportunities," she said. "I look forward to providing today's teens with experiences that will prepare them for their future successes."
Attending Michigan State University, Ellis earned her bachelor's degree in interpersonal and organizational communication. She was an active member of Sigma Delta Tau Sorority and began working for the sorority as a traveling leadership consultant, followed by 20 years of volunteer work in areas including leadership training, recruitment, philanthropy and risk management.
She earned her masters in business administration from Wayne State University. Ellis worked in marketing out East before returning home to start a family business. Active in the Jewish community, she serves on the Tamarack Camps board and in various roles at Congregation Beth Shalom, Temple Israel and Aish Detroit.
Ellis has three children, Shira (named after her BBG chapter), Ari and Noam, who are looking forward to joining BBYO one day.
