Event Details
On Saturday May 4th from 7pm-8:30pm, join Richmond BBYO for a community-wide Havdalah to commemorate Yom Hashoah led by Claudia Sachs, 29th Virginia Council Sh'licha (VP of Jewish Programming) along with guest speaker and Holocaust survivor Jay Ipson.
Beginning at 7pm on Saturday May 4th, we will close Shabbat with Havdalah, which in Hebrew means "Seperation", led by Claudia Sachs. Following the conclusion of Havdalah, we will hear Jay Ipson recount his survivor story and take questions from the community. A reception will follow.
This event is free of charge but BBYO will be accepting donations for the International Service Fund (ISF). The ISF is AZA and BBG's treasury that allows our members to be engaged in the affairs of the global Jewish community. There are three main ways we allocate money we raise for the ISF. This fund provides scholarships for teens around the world to attend BBYO's immersive experiences, serves as the pool of money from which we make donations to charities on behalf of the Grand and International Orders, and allows us to support communities in times of need. The AZA and BBG Executive Bodies determine how the ISF is allocated.
