Northern Region East: DC Council

Maryland (Frederick County, Howard County & Montgomery County), and Washington, D.C.

About Us

As the largest council in the movement with over 1,600 members, Northern Region East (NRE): DC Council includes teens from Frederick County, Montgomery County, Howard County and the District. All of our members gain access to local, regional and international events that are planned by teens, for teens.

With 19 chapters with distinct personalities, members get to choose which AZA or BBG chapter fits them best. Whether it’s a weekly chapter meeting, a council dance, a basketball tournament, or regional convention with over 400 teen leaders – DC Council members receive countless opportunities to gain leadership skills, give back to the community, and make close connections with other Jewish teens in the area. Check out our 2023-2024 calendar here!

Events are planned by teens, for teens and programming ranges from fun activities like ice skating and camping overnights, to communal Shabbat celebrations and leadership trainings. A parent, advisor, or regional staff member is always on hand to ensure safety and health.

Through youth-led and staff-supported programs, BBYO DC Council gives our members opportunities to develop leadership skills and positively affect their communities, the world, and themselves. We constantly strive to provide more Jewish teens with more meaningful Jewish experiences each and every day, so that they may become the future Jewish leaders in their communities and in the Jewish world at large.
