About Us
About South Jersey Region
BBYO South Jersey Region (SJR) is comprised of 14 chapters in Southern New Jersey, representing over 600 Jewish teens in our area. We have 7 BBG chapters (for anyone identifying as female), 5 AZA chapters (for anyone identifying as male), 1 BBYO (co-ed) chapter in the Greater Cherry Hill Voorhees area, and 1 BBYO chapter in the Princeton/Mercer County area. By becoming a member of SJR, teens are afforded the opportunity to experience local programming in their communities, regional programming such as dances, community service days, sports events, and weekend-long conventions, and international programming at large scale conferences and BBYO Summer Experiences.
Our chapters hold events every two to three weeks at locations around the region. Events are planned by teens, for teens and programming ranges from fun activities like Big League Dreams, pool parties, and ice skating, to more serious programs around social justice, leadership development and sisterhood and brotherhood bonding. A parent, advisor, or regional staff member is always on hand to ensure safety and health.
Fun Fact: South Jersey's colors are red and black, and our Mascot is Sammy (Samuel Jacque) the tomato and he travels to all of our events! We are also blessed to have our own Torah which we use at regional conventions.
Through youth-led and staff-supported programs, BBYO South Jersey Region gives our members opportunities to develop leadership skills and positively affect their communities, the world, and themselves. We constantly strive to provide more Jewish teens with more meaningful Jewish experiences each and every day, so that they may become the future Jewish leaders in their communities and in the Jewish world at large.
