Kindness Calendar Contest
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Research shows that kindness has a direct correlation to improving the mental health of individuals and communities. Acts of kindness help to boost self-esteem, increase feelings of happiness, and decrease symptoms of depression. BBYO believes in building up our communities and friends, sharing resources that help families prioritize and improve the safety and mental health of our community. and making the world a better place.
With these goals in mind, we want to give everyone something to look forward to and kick off our year in the best way possible with a September Kindness Calendar, modeled after the Born This Way Foundation's #BeKind21. Throughout May, you can submit your ideas for one kind act a day. We’ll choose the best 30 and fill a calendar we can all use to bring more kindness and happiness to the world.
Are there prizes?
Being kind is its own reward! That said, if your idea is one of the 30 on our calendar we’ll send you some fun swag and one lucky winner will win a @bbyoinsider social media takeover so they can show their kind act and inspire others!
Why #BeKind21?
This campaign was inspired by BBYO’s participation in Born This Way Foundation’s #BeKind21 Campaign. The 21 Days to Be Kind campaign, also known as #BeKind21, is meant to bring together individuals, communities, and companies to make the world a kinder place. Inspired by the idea that habits are formed by repeating an activity for 21 consecutive days, #BeKind21 calls on participants to practice an act of kindness each day from September 1 to September 21. Last year, participants pledged to do over 41 million acts of kindness across the globe. What better way to start a new year then by doing inspiring acts of kindness for our friends and our community members?
What kinds of acts should I submit?
It should be something achievable and reasonable that will brighten another person’s day. What would surprise you and make you happy?
