Celebrating Our Centennial:
BBYO Alumni Oral History Project

In connection with our 100th anniversary, BBYO has partnered with PCI (also known as Publishing Concepts, Inc.)—a family-owned company based in Dallas, TX, and an industry leader in alumni data management—to clean and update our alumni records, and create a first-ever oral history of our Movement.

Beginning October 21, 2022, all BBYO alumni will receive information via mail, email, or phone call asking if you want to verify your profile and share a story about your time in BBYO. Below are examples of communication you will receive, as well as alumni packages that are available for purchase as part of this project.

The BBYO Alumni Oral History Project is the first of its kind and a living history for members both old and new, and it won't be the same without the participation of every Aleph and BBG. Thank you for helping us to celebrate our history, honor our traditions, and strengthen our network—ensuring we’re ready for the next 100 years of BBYO!

Forever united,

Jayme David

Frequently Asked Questions

I received an email/postcard/phone call from a company asking for my personal information and a story about BBYO. Is this a legitimate project or is it a scam?
It’s legit! We have partnered with PCI (also known as Publishing Concepts) to produce an Oral History Publication for BBYO. PCI is a family-owned business based in Dallas, TX that has published directories for educational institutions, fraternities, and sororities across the nation for over 100 years. This project allows BBYO to hear about your personal experiences and explain how BBYO has helped shape your lives.

How did BBYO obtain my contact information?
BBYO maintains and updates contact information for our alumni as a means of better serving our network and keeping our community connected. If our contact information is not accurate, please update your information on file by calling the dedicated BBYO update line at 1-888-861-7115.

Does BBYO benefit from this at all?
Yes, in a few different ways:

  • Updated Information – allows us to effectively communicate with and engage members and alumni

  • Legacy – preserves the history and traditions of our organization

  • Revenue – generates donation revenue for programs

  • Pride – wearing apparel shows support and love for our Movement

How do I know my information will only be used for Oral History Project purposes?
PCI is committed to protecting your information. The names, addresses and information provided to PCI for the publication of the Oral History Project will be held confidential by PCI, except to the extent that they are utilized in, or in the preparation of, the Oral History Project and except as required by court order or law. Upon completion of the project, PCI will redact PII (Personal Identifiable information) from any and all electronic files that we have supplied or were produced by PCI in connection with the production of the Oral History Project.

Can I expect a sales pitch? Will they try to sell me something?
Yes. Alumni who call the toll-free number should expect to be offered an opportunity to purchase an alumni package, including apparel and a commemorative hardcover book celebrating 100 years of BBYO and sharing alumni stories. Purchase is not required, and proceeds benefit BBYO.

I would like to verify or update my information and share a story. How may I do this?
If you received a postcard or an email with a telephone number, you may call the number to speak with a dedicated representative for the Oral History Project.
