Regional Kickoff
Date/Time: October 17, 2020 from 7:00 – 10:00 PM
Cost: $15 for swag bag item and participation
**New members who join BBYO by October 17 can attend Kickoff for free!

This year we are bringing teens together to participate in Regional Kickoff in small groups from their local chapter. We hope this will help connect our chapter members and new friends a bit better, while at the same time providing the opportunity to join in on our larger regional moment to kickoff the year! Teens should attend the chapter in their local area.

Chapters will host our teens starting with an ice breaker and then join in on the regional hype video welcome! Following the hype video, chapters will watch through Netflix Party the new Adam Sandler movie, Hubie Halloween. During the movie teens can join various breakout programs offering different activities and games to get to know each other better.

Here are a few more details:

  • Chapters can gather in-person** in small groups of 10 following our Phase I requirements of meeting outside and maintain social distancing. Chapters will do in-person ice breakers and have the opportunities to meet teens from their area who are logging in virtually.
    • The BBYO Office will provide projector and speakers for the chapters if needed.
    • We are looking for houses to host the program, see below if you are intersted. 
    • BBYO staff will assign teens to a house and will alert at least one week prior to Kickoff.
  • Chapters can choose to gather online through zoom and will get their own breakout room to welcome members and participate in their chapters ice breaker.
  • Currently we have hosts for the following chapters to hold in-person gatherings:

All teens will receive a fun swag bag, including some cozy fall goodies and a BBYO branded item (can’t tell you what because we want to keep it a surprise). Each chapter will deliver prior to the event. You must register by 10/11 to receive your swag bag BEFORE kickoff!

We want to make all of our BBYO events as inclusive as possible, so there will be ways to join breakout rooms with other teens joining from home. We will have options to watch the movie together or join in on some activities happening during the night with teens from your chapter and also all over RI, MA, and NH.

How can you help?

We are looking for 2-3 families per chapter to help host 10 teens at their house for Regional Kickoff. Use of a bathroom for the program would be great! We provide extra PPE and ask that the teens bring their own mask and hand sanitizer. Our new rule is no food at events, unless needed for medical reasons. Teens may bring a water bottle and remove their mask to drink. If interested, please indicate in the registration questions and Samantha Walsh will be in touch with more information.
