About Us

In rural Uganda, the Abayudaya community stands as a vibrant example of resilience, culture, and a unique spiritual journey. Originating nearly 100 years ago in the Mbale region, the Abayudaya people have maintained their religious beliefs, traditions, and cultural practices despite significant challenges, creating a distinctive Jewish identity.

Within this community, the Abayudaya Teens Association plays a central role in empowering teens and preserving this rich heritage. BBYO Uganda brings together Abayudaya teens across East Africa, engaging them through impactful programs and shared experiences.

Through Shabbatonim, conventions, and leadership trainings, teens come together for prayer, learning, and connection. These gatherings create meaningful opportunities to build friendships, exchange ideas, and develop leadership skills. In addition, Tikun Olam initiatives inspire teens to give back and make a positive impact in their communities.

Through these experiences, BBYO Uganda continues to empower teens while strengthening their connection to Jewish identity and community.
