Pascack Valley BBG and AZA Teens Donate Nearly $15,000 to Play for P.I.N.K.

Linden, NJ – Pascack Valley BBG and AZA of BBYO Greater Jersey Hudson River Region, serving Jewish teens in central and northern New Jersey, presented a check for nearly $15,000 to Play for P.I.N.K., a nonprofit breast cancer research organization and their BBYO Stand UP cause. BBYO Stand UP is BBYO’s grassroots service, advocacy and philanthropy initiative which provides a platform for Jewish teens across the world to take action and tackle the issues and causes they care about most, empowering a generation of young Jewish leaders who are self-aware and motivated to become agents of change within and beyond the Jewish community.

Beginning in the summer of 2014, teens in Pascack Valley BBG and AZA chapters worked hard to organize their BBYO Stand UP cause in support of Play for P.I.N.K. On November 15, 2014, their work paid off when over 300 teens from across New Jersey, all dressed in pink and white, gathered at Temple Emanuel in Woodcliff Lake, NJ for their annual Pink and White Dance to support breast cancer research.

“BBYO Stand UP is an amazing opportunity to raise awareness and money for a cause that inspires us,” said Rachel Samitt, a member of Pascack Valley BBG. “I was so proud of my chapter when I saw all of our hard work come together.”

The teens held multiple canning sessions, chapter dinners, apparel sales and community car washes to help reach their fundraising goal. In just a few months, they surpassed their goal and, on February 25, 2015, Pascack BBG and AZA proudly donated nearly $15,000 to Play for P.I.N.K.
