BBYO has decades of experience bringing teens to Israel and operating immersive travel experiences around the world. Our approach prioritizes the safety and well-being of every participant while creating meaningful opportunities for teens to explore Israel, connect with its people, and experience the country firsthand.

We work closely with our partners and experienced professionals in Israel to monitor conditions and make informed decisions before and throughout each program.

BBYO continuously monitors conditions in Israel leading up to and throughout the summer. Our team evaluates information from our partners on the ground, security professionals, government sources, and other trusted resources when making decisions about program operations.

Conditions can change, so decisions are based on the most current information available rather than circumstances at any single point in time.

If a significant development affects our ability to operate a program as planned, BBYO will communicate directly with registered families.

International travel requires flexibility, and conditions in any destination can change.

When necessary, BBYO may adjust itineraries, transportation plans, activities, accommodations, or other elements of a program in response to changing conditions. Our team and partners continuously evaluate each group’s plans throughout the experience and make adjustments when appropriate.

If a significant change affects your teen’s program or travel arrangements, BBYO will communicate directly with families as quickly as possible.

BBYO will communicate directly with registered families regarding significant program-specific developments, itinerary changes, or travel updates that affect their teen.

Families should make sure the contact information associated with their teen’s registration remains current and continue monitoring the email address used during registration.

During the summer, families will also receive information about how to contact BBYO should an urgent need arise while their teen is traveling.

BBYO will always be the primary source for information about your teen’s specific BBYO program, including decisions about itineraries, transportation, accommodations, and program operations.

Families who would also like to monitor broader conditions in Israel should consult official government travel resources, including current travel advisories and embassy or consulate updates. Because conditions and government guidance can change, we recommend referring directly to these official resources rather than relying on information shared at an earlier date.

The Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) is a free service from the U.S. Department of State for U.S. citizens and nationals traveling or living abroad.

By enrolling a trip in STEP, travelers can receive destination-specific updates and alerts from the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate. Enrollment can also help the embassy or consulate contact travelers or their emergency contacts during an emergency.

We encourage families of U.S. citizen travelers to enroll their teen’s international travel in STEP before departure and keep their travel information current.

Yes. Canadian travelers can register through the Government of Canada’s Registration of Canadians Abroad service.

This free service allows the Government of Canada to send registered travelers important information related to emergencies and changes to travel advice and advisories and can help Canadian officials contact travelers during an emergency abroad.

We encourage Canadian families to register their teen’s trip before departure.

Airline schedules and international flight operations can change for many reasons, including weather, operational issues, and regional conditions.

BBYO works closely with our travel partners to monitor flight arrangements for participants traveling on BBYO-organized group flights. If a significant flight disruption affects a group’s travel plans, BBYO and our travel partners will communicate next steps directly with impacted families.

Families should avoid making independent changes to BBYO-organized travel arrangements unless instructed to do so by BBYO or our designated travel partner.

We understand that every family may evaluate international travel differently.

If your circumstances or comfort level change after registering, please contact the BBYO Summer team to discuss your options. Any cancellation, transfer, refund, or program-change options will be based on the enrollment policies and terms applicable to your teen’s registration.

Because these policies may vary by program or time of year, families should refer to their current enrollment terms rather than information from previous summers.

BBYO strongly encourages families to review the travel protection options available to them and determine what coverage best meets their needs.

Travel insurance policies differ significantly in what they cover, including trip cancellation, interruption, delays, medical situations, and events related to a destination’s security conditions. Families should carefully review policy terms, exclusions, eligibility requirements, and deadlines before purchasing coverage.

Questions about what a specific policy does or does not cover should be directed to the insurance provider.

In addition to completing all BBYO required forms and pre-trip preparations, families should:

• Make sure their teen’s passport and required travel documents are current.
• Review official travel information for Israel before departure.
• Enroll U.S. citizen travelers in STEP or Canadian travelers in Registration of Canadians Abroad.
• Review travel insurance coverage and exclusions.
• Keep emergency contact information associated with BBYO registration current.
• Review all BBYO pre-trip communications and attend any required or recommended orientation sessions.
• Talk with their teen about following instructions from BBYO staff and local professionals throughout the program.
