Virtual IC was an experience I will never forget. To be completely honest I never believed something on my computer screen could be so fun and exciting but BBYO definitely proved me wrong. I made so many friends and met so many cool people and I can honestly say this convention changed my life.

When I found out before IC that I got chosen for my dream position (to be part of the Instagram Live Newsdesk), I screamed and was shocked that they gave me that opportunity. Ever since I was in eighth grade my parents and I watched the Facebook Live desks because my older brother was at IC and we wanted to see if he would get interviewed. I thought that being able to interview people was such a cool and fun experience that I always wanted to have.

When I logged on to Instagram I felt so excited and could not wait to start my Livestream. I was nervous when I went on, but I was also excited. When I saw all my friends join to support me, I felt a lot better. It was fun and exciting to hear other people’s opinions on how the convention was going so far. That experience made me more confident and made me feel really good about myself.

Another amazing experience was going on Meetup. I made so many friends who I talk to every day. I became friends with this girl named Maya, and we ended up talking for 5 hours that night. I met another girl from Switzerland and we talked for an hour about chocolate and the different foods we like.

I also attended some amazing programs like the open mic night, lip sync battle, rap battle, creating Judaism through drag, Zodiac Meetup, Zumba with Ellen, and so many more. On these programs, I bonded with my chapter friends, regional/council friends, international friends, and made so many new friends. These programs also showed me how to be a leader in my community and were really fun.

Lastly, all of the speakers were amazing! When I found out Kesha was coming to IC, I screamed so loud that I scared my parents. All of the concerts and hearing them all talk about their stories was so inspirational and amazing. My favorite speaker was definitely either Netta, Kesha, or Rebel Wilson. Another cool experience is that at the end of Diplo’s performance, I got to go to a private meet and greet with him and a few other people which was absolutely amazing!

I felt IC 2021 was an amazing experience, and I cannot wait for my last IC next year! Can’t wait to see you all there!
