Top 5 airport tips for the summer

Due to my recent airport fiasco where I was stuck at the airport overnight, I thought I would share my tip 5 airport tips for staying sane during airport travel.

  • Bring a carry-on with an extra change of clothes - I used to be a carry-on hater; I didn’t see a point in carrying an extra piece of luggage around the airport. However, this week I got stuck with one and I am happy that I did. Keeping an extra pair of clothes helped me feel clean and comfortable while spending the night on the airport benches.
  • Bring your toothbrush and toothpaste - Piggybacking on the last suggestion, traveling on a plane and through different airports makes you feel dirty. I like to brush my teeth before, during, and after my flight just to get all the airplane out of my mouth. It helps keep some routine when you are flying over different time zones.
  • Chargers and cords - This seems obvious, but you would not believe how many times I’ve had to use my computer as a charger because I forgot one. Bring extra cords and a portable battery just in case of delays or if your plane doesn’t have an outlet.
  • A pillow - Whether it be a neck pillow or a normal one, it’ll save your neck and back from inevitable pain. They are also incredibly useful for long layovers, in the car or train, or for traveling to and from the airport. Make sure to bring one with a removable cover so you can wash it.
  • Snacks - You never know what is available at the airport or how much it’ll cost. Save yourself from the 20-dollar pizza and just pack your own snacks. You can bring them through TSA and once you eat all of them, you have more space in your backpack for other things.

I hope this helped at least one of you and happy summer!
