Finding the Place That I Belong
The two months I spent at BBYO Perlman Camp this past summer led to what I call the best summer of my life. From meeting friends from all around the world to learning new tactics to engage members of my community, I fell even more in love with BBYO during ILTC and Kallah.
At Perlman, both the teen coordinators and every single staff member fostered an inclusive environment and made me feel like I could accomplish anything I set my mind to. Moe’s morning speeches empowered me every day to send that one extra text to a teen and get them to come to a chapter event this term. Playing soccer with my Madrichim also brought me out of my comfort zone and helped me discover a new enjoyment for the sport. Additionally, all the leadership opportunities we were given at Perlman enabled me to learn how to be a leader beyond programs and how to fill different roles where I was needed.
Perlman is an experience I would highly recommend, and I couldn't imagine a more entertaining way to spend my summer break. The community that Perlman builds is unlike anything I have ever seen and creates lasting bonds that will remain strong for generations to come.
