#GivingBBYODay: Tips and Tricks for Giving Tuesday
This year, BBYO alumni worldwide will open their emails to a flooded inbox filled with different organizations asking them for money. That influx will occur around Giving Tuesday, or what we call Giving BBYO Day.
This Tuesday at your chapter meetings, you will most likely be given a list of alumni numbers to call. Contrary to popular belief, calling alumni who have no clue who you are may not be the best way to get donations. I currently serve as Miami Region’s 22nd Gizborit, and through my journey, I have learned some of the best ways to raise money, which have led me to reach over half of my region’s goal before the day!
First, family is the best connection. Send your fundraising link to your parents, grandparents, and extended family. Even if they do not donate, they can send your link out to their friends and post it. This will result in donations coming in from places that you never would have thought to look.
Second, the Brand Kit provided by BBYO is the greatest tool to help you fundraise. It includes templates, scripts, and more resources to help persuade donors to support your chapter and region. Don’t overlook it, because it is designed to make your outreach easier and more effective.
Third, personalize every message you send. Whether it’s a text, email, or social media DM, people are far more likely to donate when they feel a real connection. Explain why BBYO matters to you, what you’ve gained from it, and how their contribution will help teens just like you have meaningful Jewish experiences.
As Giving BBYO Day approaches, lean into the resources, connections, and passion that make our Movement special. With the right strategy and a genuine voice, you can surpass your goals and help ensure that BBYO continues to change lives for generations to come!
