Giving BBYO Day was not part of our founding history, but it began in 2012 as a way to raise funds for programs. BBYO has always relied on donations to support its programs. The event was established as a “push day” because of our movement’s growth and its drive to make a global impact. Now, Giving BBYO Day is a large part of BBYO's annual calendar, typically on the first Tuesday in December. Chapters all around the order gather and host large calling parties. Last year, over a million dollars were raised for the first time, funneling into our International Service Fund, which funds chapters, regions, and everything in between.

When fundraising, I know it may not be easy to make the ask for donations. Our fundraising day isn't about the ask; it’s about coming together for the greater good of our movement. Whether it be calling parties or alumni outreach, every effort counts. Giving Day welcomes our loved ones into our circle and shares what is special about our siblinghood. It is a time for us to show our younger siblings, parents, grandparents, and loved ones the magic of BBYO, through not only our stories, but also our unwavering dedication and passion for the movement. We bring people together to reflect on their past, filled with unforgettable memories. Maybe they held a board position, or maybe they weren’t on board, but they found their forever friends. We remind alumni what made them fall in love with BBYO in the first place, reminiscing and sharing stories.

So, the question is, why is it so important for you to give back to this incredible organization? It is imperative that we pave the way for future Alephs and BBGs, encouraging those around us to dream big. The money we raise is not just a number; it is a lifetime of memories and experiences. Our donations fund the twinkly summer nights spent under the Perlman tree. They fund guest speakers, who allow us to network and build strong connections. I hope you tap into your why this Giving BBYO Day. Happy fundraising!
