Highlights of NSR’s Spring Convention
Nassau Suffolk Region’s 2025 Spring Convention was a weekend to be remembered! BBGs and Alephs all over NSR came together for an amazing weekend of fun, laughter, and new friends. Convention was truly incredible, but here are just some highlights for the weekend.
- Shabbat: Our regional Sh’lichim, Hailey and Marshall, and their dedicated steerers lead a very meaningful and fun Hollywood-themed Shabbat on Friday night. It was so nice to pray, dance, and sing with our friends. Finally, the weekend had come and we could celebrate together!
- Life: This year, life was split into two separate nights. Chapter N’siot and Godolim gave their lives on Friday, while the 67th Regional Board gave theirs on Saturday night. It was so special to listen to their speeches about their BBYO journeys and how their spark was lit. Watching the seniors pass down their lives was so sad, but very heartwarming.
- Spirit Activities: What’s a convention without the spirit game? On Friday night, BBGs and Alephs split up to have our spirit competitions. Each chapter poured their heart into their performance, and it was so cool to watch everyone dance and sing! After the dances concluded, we did some chants, such as the BBG heartbeat, which is always a great time! Summit and Genesis tied for first place! On Saturday, the spoon game started for BBGs, while the Alephs had assassin with water guns! Everyone got very into it, and we all had the best time trying to earn points for our chapters. Another activity the BBGs did was split up by chapter and create a chapter song and chant to a Hollywood theme!
- Separates: Separates are always an incredibly meaningful and important time. Regional board created amazing speeches that we all listened to, and at the end, we got to share for ourselves. Separates is always a highlight for me because I love listening to others’ experiences and connecting to them.
- Havdalah: On Saturday night, we had an amazing Havdalah service, led again by Hailey, Marshall, and their hardworking steerers. After the brief service, we sang and danced to songs, surrounded by our friends. This was such a special and emotional part of the weekend, and I felt so grateful to be with such incredible friends and have so much fun.
Convention was amazing, and here are just a few of the countless highlights! We elected our region’s 68th regional board on Sunday before we left as well. I had so much fun, and I am counting down the days until next year!
