Launching the Best Year Yet: Nassau Suffolk Region’s Adventureland Kickoff
A night of sweet treats, havdalah services, crazy rides, and BBYO friends - what could be better? On October 11th, members of the Nassau Suffolk Region gathered at Adventureland to kick off another incredible programming year! A long-anticipated event, NSR’s annual Adventureland Kickoff is a perfect event for members of all ages. Whether it is your first event or 100th event, the exciting rides, delicious food, and meaningful service are enough to draw anyone into our region.
?We started the night exploring the park and going on lots of different rides, which are always the best. Luckily, our region gets the park all to ourselves, which means NO LINES! We got to go on so many fun rides and had a blast reconnecting with our regional friends and getting excited for the upcoming year.
?Something NSR does best is foster inclusion and spirit among all BBGs and Alephs, regardless of age, chapter, or interests. All 8th, 9th, and 11th graders were encouraged to wear white, and 10th and 12th graders were encouraged to wear blue. This helped us be more spirited and unified by grade! Since this event was a kickoff to our upcoming year, many new members also had an amazing time. To ensure they were included, activities like BBG bumper cars were held to introduce people, help them make new friends, and have fun! Also, a shuk table was set up to give away items to new members, getting them excited about the event and our region.
After all the excitement of the night, it was time to come together for Havdalah. We had two separate havdalah events: one for 8th-, 9th-, and 12th-graders, and the other for 10th- and 11th-graders. This was really fun because we got to observe in a more intimate group. Services are always a highlight for me because I can meaningfully connect with my Judaism while spending time and having fun with all my friends!
?Overall, the night was filled with joy, spirit, and BBYO pride, which made it the perfect way to start another amazing year in NSR!

In the double portion of Behar-Bechukotai, God gave Moses commandments. Does BBYO fit into those commandments?
