From an outside perspective, BBYO is a Jewish youth movement that spans chapters, regions, countries, and continents. Members come together at chapter meetings, conventions, summer programs, and countless other events to build friendships, strengthen their Jewish identities, and grow as leaders. But if you ask any member what BBYO truly means to them, they'll rarely start with a convention or a leadership title. Instead, they'll tell you about the small moments that quietly built their experience.

Maybe it was the separates that made it all click, the inside joke with your chapter that somehow never gets old, or waking up at convention to find your entire regional board wearing bald caps. To someone outside of BBYO, these moments might seem random or insignificant. But to us, they're the moments that become traditions, stories, and memories we carry long after the event ends.

The truth is, BBYO isn't defined only by the programs we attend or the positions we hold. It's defined by the people who make us laugh until we’re on the ground, the conversations that unexpectedly change our perspective, and the little traditions that make every chapter and region feel like home. These moments remind us that belonging isn't created all at once, but one laugh, one late-night conversation, one shared meal, and one unforgettable memory at a time.

The big moments may bring us together, but it's everything in between that keeps us coming back. Long after we forget the exact convention programs or who won an election, we'll remember the people we were with, how they made us feel, and the small moments that turned a youth movement into a community. To someone outside of BBYO, they're just little moments. To us, they're the reason we keep coming back.
