When I arrived at International Kallah, I never expected that one of the most meaningful parts of my experience would be the separates program I had the privilege of leading alongside an incredible group of girls. Although we came from different places and had never met before, we quickly became a team united by one shared goal: creating a space where BBGs felt comfortable being vulnerable, supported, and truly seen.

Our separates theme was Gam Zeh Ya’avor, “This Too Shall Pass.” At first, I understood it simply as a reminder that difficult moments are temporary. But as the days planning went on, I realized the phrase carries an even deeper meaning. It reminds us to appreciate the joyful moments just as much as it encourages us to persevere through the hard ones, because every part of life has something to teach us.

Planning and leading our program challenged us to think intentionally about how we could help others reflect on change, resilience, and growth. Through meaningful discussions, activities, and honest conversations, we watched BBGs open up to one another in ways that were both inspiring and unforgettable. In the process, we found ourselves growing alongside them.

What I didn’t anticipate was how much the group of girls I worked with would become some of my best friends. Somewhere between brainstorming sessions, and cheering each other on, we became more than a planning team. We became genuine friends. The trust and support we built made every challenge worthwhile, and by the end of Kallah, it felt impossible to remember a time when we hadn’t known one another.

As International Kallah came to a close, the message of Gam Zeh Ya’avor took on one final meaning. Although our three weeks together had passed, the lessons, memories, and friendships we created did not. They are ones I will carry with me long after Kallah ends, serving as a reminder that while moments may be temporary, their impact can last forever.
