5 Lessons and Takeaways from International Convention 2026
IC was a blast!! I learned so many things and made so many memories while in Philadelphia. Here are some of my favorite and most valuable lessons.
- Don't be afraid to talk to people you don't know: While on my LEADS day, my friend and I didn't know anyone, but we were determined to meet new people. We went up to a group of girls, and I am so happy we did. These girls hailed from Greater Atlanta all the way to Mountain region. I am so grateful that we talked to these girls and made everlasting memories with them.
- Go into every program with an open mind: Sometimes looking at the IC app and seeing a lot of programs may seem overwhelming and scary, but it's important to go no matter what. There are so many options to choose from, and if not enjoying a program, you can always go to a different one.
- Pack accordingly: This is probably the most crucial thing one could do. And not having the correct clothes is the worst. But have no fear because I am sure your roommates will be more than willing to share with you. So make sure to check the weather ahead of time
- Eat during meals: Eating food in meals is so important because it's one of the only times during the day, aside from leaving the hotel or bringing your own snacks, which is also so important.
- Don't take memories for granted: Memories are the core of BBYO. Having the opportunity to see my CLTC friends after not seeing them since the summer was so worth the wait. Getting to make these memories is so rewarding, and I can't wait to make more with them at BBYO Summer 2026!
